Agree what will be measured, how the part will be used and what a successful sample needs to demonstrate.
Discuss your requirements ↗List critical OD/ID or section dimensions, wall or plate thickness, finished length and hole positions. Agree datums, tolerances and the measurement method.
Identify visible faces, finish, weave direction, cut ends and allowable cosmetic variation. Record the agreed reference sample where appropriate.
Check mating parts, clamps, inserts and joints. Any strength, stiffness or durability requirement needs an agreed verification method.
1. Confirm the drawing revision, material and construction proposed for the sample.
2. Agree sample quantity, cost, lead time and the checks to be recorded.
3. Review dimensions, workmanship and fit against the agreed criteria. Record deviations and required changes.
4. Confirm the approved specification and any repeat checks before placing the batch order.
If you need material documentation, traceability, dimensional records or independent test reports, specify that requirement before quotation. Availability, scope and cost must be confirmed for the actual part; a generic catalogue value is not a test result for your component.
For a concern after delivery, provide the order reference, drawing revision, affected quantity, photographs and measurements. Keep the affected parts available for review and agree the next action.
You don’t need a complete specification to start a conversation. Tell us the application and what you know so far.
