Length is a measurement, not just a cut size
For a survey assembly, a threaded adapter or ground tip changes the distance to the instrument reference. Define those reference surfaces before machining the tube or adding graduations.
CUSTOM MANUFACTURING / PRACTICAL SPECIFICATION
Custom carbon fibre tubes, extensions and machined sections for survey equipment. Define the measuring reference, joint and receiver interface before agreeing the build.
The values below are starting points for a custom enquiry. Final sizes, tolerances, material, accessories and acceptance checks are agreed before production.
| Parameter | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Pole length | 2 m (6.6 ft) and 2.5 m (8.2 ft) are useful enquiry reference lengths. Fixed, sectional or telescopic construction is reviewed to your drawing; these are not stocked models. |
| Extension length | 150 mm and 1,000 mm are reference requests. Specify the installed addition between mating faces, not only the cut tube length. |
| Tube OD / ID | State outside and inside diameter in mm, wall thickness and fit tolerances. For a telescopic pair, mark where each diameter is measured. |
| Receiver connection | 5/8-inch interfaces occur in survey equipment. Confirm the exact thread pitch, male/female arrangement, engagement and shoulder dimensions; nominal size alone does not establish compatibility. |
| Height reference | Specify the ground-tip reference, mounting shoulder, receiver offset and any scale datum on an assembly drawing. |
| Lock, level & tip | State clamp or pin-lock requirements, bubble-level mount, pointed tip and replaceable wear parts. Bought-in hardware must be agreed separately. |
| Weight & accuracy | Target mass, straightness, repeatable length and joint play must be agreed and checked on the sample. No universal survey-accuracy rating is claimed. |

A stiff tube can still be damaged by local clamping. Specify the clamp zone, reinforcement and intended locking method. Evaluate slip, surface wear and length repeatability on the assembled sample.
A bonded metal insert needs an agreed engagement length, adhesive system and load path. Discuss torque, pull-out checks and isolation of dissimilar materials; a matching thread is only one part of the joint.
A bare tube, a fitted extension and a complete calibrated pole are different scopes. We quote the agreed parts. Receiver, prism, calibration and instrument-specific adapters are not included unless expressly listed.
Tell us the application, sample quantity, expected batch quantity and delivery postcode. We can separate material, machining, fittings, tooling, inspection and shipping in the quotation. Lead time and minimum order are confirmed after design review.
Dimensions can be discussed before a drawing is complete. For files, email sales@fibreparts.com with the drawing revision and units.
Start with the tube, joint and accessory specification. Any complete assembly, graduations and calibration requirements need a separate review and written acceptance plan; calibration is not included by default.
Brand names alone are insufficient. Send the actual interface drawing and required reference height. We do not claim brand affiliation or universal compatibility.
Yes, send the drawing and required sample quantity. Minimum order, tooling and sample costs are confirmed for the agreed design rather than promised as a universal quantity.
No. Carbon fibre conducts electricity. These parts are not offered as insulated survey equipment.
You don’t need a complete specification to start a conversation. Tell us the application and what you know so far.
